East Hanney
Many recently built properties are sold with gardens that whilst levelled and turfed, lack any real design or features. Add to this an unusual shaped plot, and you have a space that many people would find difficult to deal with. The Client was keen to carry out the works themselves, but couldn't see how best to deal with the space.
Through a series of consultations, a
design was created that worked with the shape of the space but also brought
in strong lines to bring movement into the space. The accompanying planting
plan was based around using a vast range of grasses along with clipped
box and pencil cypress, creating a semi formal feel to the space. Pergolas
and screens broke up sight lines into the house from neighbouring roads and
properties. The client is installing the garden in stages, as the remodelling
of a space this size is no small undertaking!
